The OEM PLC Modem Card (OPMC) is a power line communication (PLC) modem packaged as a 12 VDC-supplied electronic card to be integrated into Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) existing products. Typical applications may include sub-metering systems, HVAC systems, energy management systems, SCADA systems or any application requiring dedicated communications wires.
The OPMC is ideal to replace hard wired serial interfaces, such as RS-485, RS-422 and RS-232 cables, between networked products. It acts as a PLC modem to transmit and receive data (Modbus, BACnet MS/TP, OPC or any other proprietary data) over existing power line cables or twisted pair cables, eliminating the need to install extra cables between products through walls and floors. Therefore, it simplifies installation and reduces the overall system cost. Using Domosys’ proven PLC technology, the OPMC provides access anywhere in a building. The OPMC’s integrated PowerBus IC can also be loaded with any custom application requiring power line communications.
To avoid installation of new serial wires within a building during a system retrofit or a new installation. It can also replace communications wires on a standalone system outside as well as fulfilling the needs of various SCADA applications. With its standard firmware application, it receives data on a serial port and transmits it to another OPMC or Domosys’ power line compatible device on the same electrical circuit. The receiving power line device will then extract the power line information and transmit it to the connected device.
