Domosys releases commercial version of PowerBus™ Technology

Version 2.0 resulting of extensive beta testing to provide complete technology solution to control networking markets. Domosys Corporation announced today the commercial release, version 2.0, of its PowerBus™ Technology. This release consists of the latest PowerBus firmware for the Domosys U-Chip integrated circuits, as well as updates for the development and installation software tools. PowerBus Technology was developed to provide a mass-market control networking solution for residential, commercial, industrial, utility and transport markets. Its highly reliable Physical Layer coupled with its PowerLink Service, an automatic repeating mechanism embedded in every product, provides robust communication performance needed in harsh power line environments. The fact that the whole protocol stack resides in the flash memory of the U-Chip IC and can be upgraded in the field over the power line ensures that a PowerBus device can be upgraded to the latest firmware release easily at any time. No other control networking technology currently provides such simple upgrade capabilities. PowerBus also embeds a Security Service and can access the Internet through OPC or OSGi drivers. "Working closely with select customers on our beta releases since mid-2001 has allowed us to steer the development efforts of our PowerBus technology towards practical market needs", said Pierre Longtin, Vice President of Engineering of Domosys Corporation. "The addition of the master/slave topology into PowerBus Technology, to go alongside the peer-to-peer topology, is a prime example of how we are ensuring that this technology meets the requirements of the broad control networking market."

The main features of this commercial release of PowerBus, version 2.0, consist in the following:

A new master/slave network topology is supported. This topology is particularly applicable to AMR (automated meter reading) applications.

The Physical Layer offers a new robust mode, which is particularly effective for very noisy power line environments, to go along with the regular fast mode.

PowerBus Windows Java and OSGi drivers are available to help developers build their own software tools.
