Domosys Corporation Receives the Highest Distinction From the Fédération de l'informatique du Québec

Quebec city, Quebec – May 27th, 2000 – Domosys Corporation, a leading supplier of power line communication technology for control networks, won two awards from the Fédération de l'informatique du Québec (FIQ), the Quebec's computer science federation, at their 14th annual OCTAS Gala that was held on May 27th.

Occurring every year since 1987, the OCTAS Gala is a unique opportunity to recognize excellency in the information technology industry in Quebec. Each year, the FIQ honors individuals, companies and organizations for their creativity, motivation and contribution to the expansion of our industry.

Domosys received the Excellency Award and the Technological Innovation Award (200 Employees or Less) for its PLAN™ (Power Line Area Network) system. With this system, utilities and service providers can reach every wall outlet and every electrical appliance in their customers' homes via existing electrical power lines to deliver value-added services.

The PLAN integrates four elements: a gateway, an electronic meter, a display, and a DomoMeter™ module. The residential gateway is the link between the WAN and the PLAN. The solid-state residential meter allows utilities to remotely collect power consumption data. In the PLAN, the meter's data are made available to the utility and to the customers, allowing a much greater exchange of information between the parties. The display is the in-premise customer interface. Information such as electrical consumption of an individual appliance for a period of time, total daily electrical consumption, and community messaging can be viewed from the display. Finally, a key part of this system is the DomoMeter module. This module allows for the sub-metering and load shedding of any appliance. It can react to Time-Of-Use pricing signals sent over the networks and monitors/reports seven variables relative to electricity consumption and power quality. Each of the four devices has an embedded Domosys power line transceiver integrated circuit.
