CONTROL EVERYTHING WITH THE NEW U-CHIP™ – Now you can with Domosys Corporation's second generation of transceivers

Quebec city, Canada - November 7, 2000 - Domosys Corporation, a leading provider of control networking technology, is launching the U-Chip family of robust and high-performance microcontrollers/transceivers. The revolutionary U-Chip is specifically designed for embedding networking functionality into low-cost, everyday applications found in residential, commercial, utility and transportation markets. The U-Chip can turn the simplest electrical device into an Internet appliance.

Very flexible, the U-Chip family of transceivers is optimized for communication over the power line, but it may also be used over the twisted pair medium. Powerful and integrated, the U-Chip combines a high-performance RISC 8052 microcontroller with a configurable network transceiver. In its flash memory version, the complete firmware of the U-Chip, including the protocol physical layer, can be uploaded remotely over the LAN. The modulation techniques of the U-Chip allow it to meet American (FCC), European (CENELEC) and Canadian (RSS-210) emission standards. The U-Chip also embeds many peripherals such as SPI ports, watchdog and analog comparators. Moreover, the transceivers can support the CEBus® standard and other control network protocols such as PowerBus, a narrow band proprietary solution offered by Domosys.

"The control network market now has a core device that can be used across different medium and protocols in a most flexible way", comments Evan Price, President of Domosys Corporation. "When you work with diverse markets, you need to propose a broad range of technologies. With the U-Chip, Domosys offers the most advanced and complete control networking solution."

The applications for the U-Chip are limited only by the imagination of the developers and integrators working with it. The same ground-breaking technology can be used to detect door problems aboard a rail car, manage street lights according to traffic density, start your air-conditioning at home before leaving the office or shut off a gas station pump in case of a leak. The installation costs are minimal, taking into account the use of existing power lines.

First U-Chip prototype samples will be made available in Q2, 2001 and the commercial version will be available in Q3, 2001. In addition to the U-Chip, Domosys will continue to support its CEWay line of power line transceivers for at least the year 2001.
