C.P. Technology Presents the Power iA Smarthome SG2100+ Service Gateway at Connections 2001

Advanced OSGi-compliant gateway to embed Domosys U-Chip™ transceiver

Seattle, WA, May 9, 2001 — Today at Connections 2001, C.P. Technology unveiled the new Smarthome SG2100+ service gateway. The SG2100+ is a low-cost, OSGi-compliant service gateway with an xDSL WAN and multiple LAN connections. The SG2100+ will embed the Domosys U-Chip™ transceiver to access control networks over the power line and the twisted pair media.

Running on IBM's WebSphere Everyplace Suite Embedded Edition, the versatile SG2100+ provides the most complete and integrated gateway solution across various networking platforms. It enables service providers to securely deliver a new class of services to the SOHO market, such as broadband communication, Internet access sharing, remote monitoring of devices and real-time energy management.

The U-Chip™ transceiver will allow the SG2100+ to control and monitor everyday electronic devices in residential and commercial environments. This integrated circuit redefines the hardware platform for control networks by integrating a RISC 8052 microcontroller, flash memory, a transceiver and numerous peripherals on a single die. The versatility of the U-Chip™ is such that it can support various control network protocols and communication media, such as the power line and the twisted pair. It is compliant with worldwide emission standards.
